The event was described as spectacular. A young man wearing a cardboard cage is lying on a table while another student wearing a doctor's stethoscope evaluates his condition. It was hosted by the art honorary fraternity, Alpha Rho Tau (Greek letters for ART), in honor of the college's foreign students. On February 12, 1949, the art honorary fraternity of the College of Puget Sound, Alpha Rho Tau, threw their very first Beaux Arts Ball. The party was given in honor of the College's foreign students and drew students dressed in all sorts of lavish, exotic and creative costumes. A masked couple glided by in fanciful dress; she a column of black and white ruffles and he a rectangular knight. Other couples looked on from tables near a wall decorated with modern drawings. All of the revelers were unidentified with the exception of the woman directly left of the female dancer. She was Maxine Lister, the winner of the first prize for most original costume. Pacific Northwest Conference Convention at CPS, Women's Society, The Methodist Church. Leaders of the Woman's Society of Christian Service conducted the annual Pacific Northwest conference at the College of Puget Sound for a week in early August 1949. The fourteen student members of the College of Puget Sound Choral Readers perform in recital in Jones Hall Auditorium. The group, under the direction of Martha Pearl Jones, performed a diversified program of ensemble verse readings. Members were Herb Stark, leader, Gloria Nelson, assistant leader, Doug Cullen, Ellen Davenport, Mary Kincheloe, Helen Pearson, Kaye Klopfenstein, Mel Gidley, William Gianelli, Dale Lee, David Stell, Fern McCullough, Claudia Zediker and Homer Johnson. On January 5, 1951, three unidentified Tacoma Athletic Commission members posed with tennis stars (in white, left to right) Pancho Segura, Pauline Betz Addie, Gertrude "Gussie" Moran and Jack Kramer at the Bobby Riggs Professional Tennis Show held in the College of Puget Sound Fieldhouse. TAC and the Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club cosponsored the two singles and the doubles match offered in the nationally touring show. The most exciting matches were those of Kramer, who was top of the amateur field, and Segura, the flashy Latin player from Ecuador with the two handed forehand and backhand returns. "Gorgeous Gussie" Moran, consistently rated in the top 10 of this country, was better known for her fashion statements such as her ruffled tennis undies. Addie, who had worn the national women's crown for four years, was also known as a sharp dresser and the two women consistently tried to out dress each other. A portion of the evenings returns were donated to the March of Dimes. (TNT 1/5/1951, pg. 15)

College of Puget Sound 1951 graduating class. 285 graduates received degrees June 3, 1951, during the ceremony in the field house. Dr. R. Franklin Thompson, president of the college conferred the degrees. Dr. Robert E. Burns spoke to the granduates on "World Unity, But How?". Exposure of Easter Sunrise service at the College of Puget Sound fieldhouse. A large choir of children and teens stands ready to sing. Services held with the rising of the sun to celebrate Easter were city wide events and well attended.

Harvel was formerly with the Tacoma Tigers. One young man is reviewing materials from a notebook. CPS. Students at the College of Puget Sound are determined to win the many valuable awards in the Tacoma T-Man contest. One young man is wearing a gas mask. Two hold rifles and the last one holds a revolver in his hand and a pipe in his teeth. They have scoured the campus in hopes of locating the elusive subject. The 7th jingle clue was, "For he is sound as sound can be, A saint in two he is, not three. All will vouch and praise his name, and then go on to win the game". "T-Men", an Edward Small production released by Eagle Lion Films, was opening at the Rialto Theater. The film starred Dennis O'Keefe and was based on a compilation of three actual cases of US Treasury Department agents going under cover to track down a counterfeiting ring. CPS. The College of Puget Sound SPURS hosted the regional meeting of SPURS, the national women's honorary service organization, March 5, 6, and 7, 1948, on the CPS campus. Members from Washington, Oregon and Montana attended. Three main topics were discussed: new member selection, activities and expansion of activities. The Central Board was a group of students vested with the responsibility of appointing committee heads, supervising the control of ASCPS finances, choosing publication heads and planning special campus events. The board was comprised of representatives of each class, editors of the Trail and Tamanawas, department managers of forensics, men's and women's intramural, music and dramatics, elected officers of ASCPS, and three faculty advisors.
